What we're about

Launched in March, 2021, this Meetup will provide opportunities for cybersecurity professional development and networking for anybody in the greater Loudoun County, VA area. We’re open to cyber practitioners, consultants, trainers, policymakers, software vendors, students, etc. This conversation is intended as an informal forum for the people who have knowledge of the current state, status, challenges, successes, and emerging topics in government cybersecurity technologies.

As of June, 2021, we are transitioning to in-person meetings. Meetings will feature a speaker on a topic of interest for about 20-30 minutes, encouraging questions and discussion, and then allow for networking to include announcements by jobseekers/employers and startups who want to give their elevator pitch on a new cyber company, idea, or technology. Join this conversation as we discuss the most important issues of the day, as they concern the intersections of technology, government, business, and people.

If you require a reasonable accommodation for any type of disability in order to participate in Loudoun County Cybersecurity Professionals, please contact Katie Fleger at 703-737-8612 (TTY 711). Three business days advance notice is requested.

Zero Trust Architectures and Opportunities

Needs a location

Our momentum continues to grow as a Loudoun community and as a Meetup group! On May 10 we had our largest meeting yet, with about 53 people meeting at Clyde’s in Ashburn. Big thanks to Debbie Sallis from The Cyber Guild for co-organizing the meeting and HR solutions firm Insperity for their generous sponsorship. Brian Tinsman (POUNCE) and Courtney Brady (ThreatBlockr) provided excellent advice on branding during a panel discussion led by Jamil Evans (The Cyber Guild and Evans & Chambers Technology). Thanks again to our speakers and to Insperity for their sponsorship.

For June 14, we’re back to our “home court,” Old Ox Brewery. Our speaker will be frequent Meetup attendee and Loudoun business owner, Mr. Paul Fox. Paul is the President of Chief Technologies, a HUBZone Small Business based in Leesburg. Paul’s presentation will cover Zero Trust Architectures and Opportunities at a high level.
We will discuss:
· Current network security perimeter-based architectures and why the need to evolve to Zero Trust Architectures.
· What is a Zero Trust Architecture?
· What are the components that make up a Zero Trust Architecture?
· How big is the opportunity for Zero Trust?
· What is the opportunity for small business to participate in this evolution?

So please join us and bring a friend. We’ll be providing food (sponsored by Sumo Logic), so arrive hungry and ready to engage with Paul and your fellow cyber warriors.
