Happy Holidays to everyone! We returned to the friendly confines of Old Ox Brewery in Ashburn for our December Meetup. About 40 attendees enjoyed some quality networking time and heard some wise advice from Mr. James Gorman from Loudoun cybersecurity company Hard2Hack. James reminded us that all the cybersecurity tools you can buy are not as valuable as the basic blocking and tackling of cyber hygiene:

  • have a resiliency plan & practice the plan
  • back up your data & practice recovering from your backups
  • implement MFA wherever possible
  • train your users to recognize and thwart phishing, smishing, etc.
  • segment your network appropriately.

A special thanks to Chrystina Nguyen and Cris Daniluk from our sponsor for the evening, Rhythmic Technologies. Among other services, Rhythmic provides AWS Managed Services: Next-gen managed services to help their clients manage cost, availability, and security in the cloud.

Our first Meetup of 2023 will be on January 10th, back at Old Ox brewery. For this meeting, we will not have a featured speaker. We will still have a short open-mic portion and a couple of announcements from Loudon Economic Development and ATARC, but otherwise the time will be yours to start the year out by making new business connections or catching up with familiar friends and colleagues.

Please contact [Chris.Friberg@Loudoun.gov](mailto:Chris.Friberg@Loudoun.gov) if you would like to be a sponsor for this or future Loudoun Cyber Meetups.

Please RSVP here on the Meetup site and at Eventbrite.
See you at Old Ox on January 10 at 5:30 P.M.!!
