Abstract: The New Transformer on the Block: An Introduction to dbt

Many tools can transform data, build pipelines, and make it accessible for the end user, including those in Microsoft’s own stack. However, there is one that simplifies the transformation step and speeds up the process: data build tool (dbt). If you know SQL, dbt allows you to build data models, write tests, and create actionable datasets…all without needing to be an elite data engineer. In this session, we will explain what dbt is, discuss how it handles data pipelines from extraction onward, and demonstrate how it can work within Azure…and Databricks or Synapse as well.
