Details

This wll be an informal, get-acquainted meeting. Come with all those economic thoughts you've been wanting to talk about [but couldn't because everybody else is so frigging ignorant :) ].

Our first meeting will be at the Portland Branch of the Louisville Free Public Library. This 1918 building is one of Louisville's four libraries paid for by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation (before he died in 1919). And it's located very close to the heart of the original city of Portland, now one of the oldest parts of Louisville.

If you're coming from the East, you'll probably want to come via I-64 East to the 22nd St. exit. [That's the first exit past the downtown 9th St. exit.] Take a right off 22nd at the first stoplight onto Portland Avenue and proceed (eleven very short blocks) until it ends at 33rd and Northwestern Parkway. The library will be the big yellow brick building facing you at the end of Portland Ave.

For some of you, this may be the first time you've been west of downtown in a while. Rest assured, Portland is a fine, diverse, and safe neighborhood. It's also the home of the latest neigborhood development efforts by Gill Holland (the father of Nu-Lu). You need to check it out anyway.

I look forward to meeting each of you soon!
