### Why are we doing this?

The community built on top of bitcoin has left the cypherpunk mailing lists and the internet fora. Though we may still meet in internet plazas and have lots of fun doing so, the real-world locations that are supporting bitcoin have made many lone wolves gather and socialize.
In 2023 there had been 40 bitcoin conferences around the world, big and small. Not counting the hundreds of meetups, special events, pizza parties, workshops and so on.
We are ready. The social layer of bitcoin is as important as it ever has been. Nodes as software and physical entities are only part of the equation, active noderunners are the other half.
We are ready to take bitcoin mainstream in a right way. Open, bitcoin-only events, fun places to be like the world-famous Santorini island, and celebrate according to the bitcoin ethos.
We are ready to make the halving event a tiny bit as important as the Olympics every four years. Future generations will celebrate this in their own way, but it will have started now.
