Welcome to the Loveland Mountain Club MEMBERS ONLY Meetup group. We are a well established club that was started over 47 years ago by Jim Disney, in beautiful Loveland, Colorado. We host at least 3 hikes/week, ranging from easy urban strolls to strenuous mountain hikes. We also host some paved trail bike rides and some flat-water kayak or paddleboard paddles. We also offer an occasional backpack trip or overnight hiking trips. We are a volunteer led and managed club; there are about 175 people in our club.

See all- West Creek Falls Hike (B-)Needs location
- Hike description: This will be an out and back steep, class B- hike beginning at the Cow Creek trailhead. We will ascend the North Boundary trail and then descend into valley and pass several cascades on our way to the waterfalls in the beautiful West Creek Valley. It will be 4.8 miles round trip hike at an easy to moderate pace. We will start around 7800 feet, with almost 1400 feet elevation gain. We will be starting fairly early due to the small parking area.
- Hike length, starting elevation, elevation gain: Distance 4.8 miles. Starting elevation around 7800 feet. Elevation gain 1400 feet
- Meetup Location: Meet up at the Jax West parking lot a little before 6:30. Round trip distance to Cow Creek trailhead is about 60 miles. Ride share will be $6 per person.
- Lateness: We will wait only 5 minutes for late arrivals at the meetup location. Please allow extra time to get to the meetup location by the stated meetup time.
- Hike Pace: This hike will be at a easy to moderate pace (2-3 miles per hour). We hike as a group and will stop at appropriate spots, as needed, along the way for water, snacks, lunch, photos, etc.
- Things to Bring: Water, snacks, lunch, appropriate clothing for the weather, sturdy hiking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, hiking poles (if you use them).
- Weather Forecast: See the forecast for the Cow Creek trailhead area https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=40.7462304247757&lon=-105.540157897168. Any changes to the hike due to weather conditions will be communicated on Meetup.
- Cancellation of Hike: Hikes are always subject to date/time change or cancellation due to weather, trail conditions or closures, or other unforeseen circumstances. You will be notified if the hike is cancelled for any reason.
- Required Waiver: If you have not already done so, you must sign the LMC waiver available on our website (see below) prior to this hike. Copies will be available at the meetup location, or you may print, sign, and bring with you a form available at this link: https://lovelandmountainclub.org/images/Forms/2024application-renewal-waiver.pdf. If you choose to sign the waiver on the day of hike, please arrive early so that we can depart for the hike on time. By signing up for this hike you acknowledge that you can perform this hike and that you are solely responsible for your own safety.
- Covid Protocol: Fully Covid vaccinated hikers only for carpooling. At the hike leader's discretion, non-vaccinated hikers may meet at the trailhead. Please contact the hike leader to discuss this matter.
- Bridal Veil Falls out of Cow Creek, class ALoveland K-Mart corner of Eisenhower and Wilson, Loveland, CO
This is a lovely hike (6.2miles out and back), well maintained trail, through open meadows of wildflowers, lush forest and over a rock field where we find a raging waterfall in all its glory! We start at 7,847 ft elevation and gain 1,070 ft at the falls. It is a reasonable 3 miles up to the cascade except the last quarter mile where we cross some challenging rocks. There are 3 flat annd safe log bridge crossings along the way. This hike will be at an approximate 2mile/hr pace or 30 minute mile.
We will meet at Jax west and, due to limited parking at the trailhead, LEAVE Jax at 6am. Drive share for this 94 mile (total) ride is $9 to your driver. We need a second driver please and someone else with an annual parks' pass. Please let me know.
Please bring plenty of water, rain gear, light gloves, poles, all the regular preparedness items, lunch, snacks (I will bring lemon/poppy seed bread to share). Check the weather at: https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/us/co/estes-park
