### Agenda of the evening
19:30 - 20:00 - Doors Open
20:00 - 20:45 - Myra Pilar
Myra Pilar is a singer and songwriter from Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Her music can be broadly described as Acoustic Pop, with influences from Soul, R&B and Sing- and Songwriting. The diversity of her repertoire makes her unique: from compelling and honest to danceable and groovy. Her deep, sincere voice and her lived-in lyrics surprise you in every song. In 2019 on Oct. 4, Myra Pilar released her debut album “MYRA PILAR.” On the same evening, she presented it at Merleyn in Nijmegen. The evening was an extreme success. Her first performance was sold out and even exceeded the maximum number of visitors. That was a great start for someone who had never released music before. The requests for gigs poured in (in the eye of a newly emerging artist). For the summer festivals in Nijmegen, she already had 5 gigs lined up. Unfortunately, the covid outbreak hit hard here as well. All performances were cancelled. Meanwhile, Myra Pilar has not been idle in the background. She recently released her second album on vinyl and in this album “Finally” you can find not only English but also Dutch songs. She has come even closer to herself in this album and as a result the album is even more diverse. January 12 she presented this in a once again sold-out Merleyn. The evening again proved to be a great success. You can now often find her at the Nijmegen festivals and recently all over the Netherlands.20:45 - 21:00- Break
21:00 - 21:45- Bette Schindler
Born and raised on a barge in Amsterdam to her bohemian jazz musician family, Bette Schindler is a tour de force at life, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, performer and producer. Her spiritual sound glides seamlessly between old school classic and new. With songs that bring optimism, positivity and love. She has been likened regularly at radio to Norah Jones and Madeleine Peyroux. On releasing her debut single 'Woke Up' in summer 2024 she immediatly found herself on the playlist at the UK's Jazz FM, and the Netherlands NPO Jazz & Soul. Woke Up was the first release from the EP of the same name due out this year. The follow up single 'Your're so Beautiful' received much the same love with her last single 'I Love You' made track of the week with Jazz FM's Nigel Williams. The track featured a music video which also garnered a world wide exclusive at Liverpool Noise. After a sold out label showcase late 2024 at Notting Hill Arts CLub Jazz festival Bette has kicked of 2025 with an intimate live show at the prestigious Paradiso Amsterdam.By getting a ticket to the event, you can see both artists on this Loving Room Concert night. ### Agenda of the evening
You, sweetheart, who lives for sound that hits the soul—this is your night. On 26th June 2025, step into The Water Rats, for a London live music concert that charges the air with rhythm, truth, and spirit. Ese & The Vooduu People bring two sets of soul-jazz rock-n-roll that’s bold, raw, and rooted. Frontwoman Ese grew up in London with a West African background, shaped by spirituality and soaked in the sound of Hendrix, grunge, and hip-hop. She busked the streets, ran jam nights in Brixton, and built a body of work that spans the raw power of Up In Smoke to the emotional punch of Tainted Love. Their music is part livewire, part confession, and all connection. You’ll hear songs recorded on analog tape, stories lived and told, and new sounds from upcoming releases like Is This Jazz? and Glowing. Get your tickets now, save the date, and come through on 26th June. Grab a drink at the bar, find your spot, and lose yourself in a night that promises groove, grit, and magic.
Ese & The Vooduu People is a band that embodies spiritual connection through their electrically charged soul and jazz-infused rock-n-roll. Frontwoman and guitarist Ese was destined to be a musician. She heard ‘Voodoo Child’ by Jimi Hendrix, and never looked back. Being London born with a West African background, elements of traditional spirituality had as much of an influence raising her as grunge, hip-hop and r'n'b. “It was almost like music chose me, rather than me choosing it,” Ese says.
Ese busked on the streets of London for a couple years and ran her own jam night in Brixton before finding a place for herself in the studio. The debut EP Dynamite, released in early 2018, is a mix of studio and live material. Released in May 2019, the debut album Up in Smoke features more autobiographical songs including ‘Silver Spoon’ and ‘I Don’t Mind', recorded on analog tape. The band’s following album, Mercury In Retrograde exhibits the dynamism of a live recorded concert at the legendary Troubadour, just before lockdown in March 2020.
Ese & The Vooduu People returned in 2022 with the electrifying, genre-crossing EP Tainted Love. This is the band’s second EP since Dynamite in 2018. Tainted Love explores the acoustic side of the band with a theme of domestic non-bliss. 2023 is looking at two new releases in the shape of the forthcoming EP Is this Jazz?, and new album Glowing recorded at Real World Studios

We all go through feeling Talking and sharing makes room for growth, even if sometimes you have to go through shit. 2024 sprints Bieke out of the starting blocks and releases songs from her debut EP “RUMENS” that are played at national and local radio and TV. 3voor12 Utrecht nominated “Ik Projecteer” as Utrecht Song Of The Year and ends up at spot 5 in the 030 top 30.
