Bird Walk/Walking at Albany Pine Bush Karner Barrens East
8 am to 11 am ish
Free, donations are welcome.
We'll be hiking the yellow perimeter trail. It is approximately 3 miles. Overall it is not too difficult, but be prepared for a few steeper sections and tree roots.
We'll be looking for locals and fall migrants.
If you would like to pay attention to the birds, please bring your binoculars and field notebook or Ebird app to keep records. Water and other necessities for an easy to moderate hike.
Waterproof footwear is recommended.
If there are people who are only interested in walking and not birds, we can split up, since birding isn't always very aerobic.
Also, if we end up with more than 15 people, we will divide the group, since the Albany Pine Bush requests to keep groups to 15 or less, to protect the habitat.
The restrooms may not be open until 9 am, so please prepare accordingly.
We'll meet under the tent, near the outdoor restrooms.
