Bok After Dark

Foto Dono is heading on the road to photograph Bok Tower Gardens on Friday, March 3rd. The trip is a self-assignment photo field trip broken into two parts. Part One is a Photo Walk around the Gardens, visiting some of his favorite places to photograph. Part Two is photographing the carillon bell tower at night.

Bok Tower Gardens is open 365 days a year from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with the last admission at 5:00 PM. Adult access is $17. Occasionally, the Gardens has an event called Bok After Dark. On March 3rd, the Gardens are hosting a musical event, with Alison Brown, from 7 PM to 9 PM, including general park admissions. The fee is $50 the night of the event and $45 before, and $35 for members. Tickets sell out fast for these events!

• Day Time Photo Walk meet at 3:00 PM outside the Visitor Center. This part requires a general admission ticket.

• Nighttime Photo Shoot meets at 6:00 PM on the Southside of the Carilion Bell Tower (the side with a view). This part requires an event ticket which includes general admissions.

The journey is rain or shine, so come prepared.

Entrance fees and transportation are up to the individual. Dono will be there to provide instruction to those who need it. There is no fee for the instructor. However, tips are welcome. Tipping is a personal choice and is at your discretion. Digital tips are acceptable for the following:

What to expect: Walking (lots of walking), birds, flowers, and an odd critter. You can bring your lunch or dinner. Also, the Blue Palmetto Cafe is open from 9 AM to 5 PM for some tasty eats and drinks. Pets are also welcome.

Equipment: A DSLR or Mirrorless Camera, any lens will do. Dono will bring a wide-angle, a telephoto; however, a macro lens, and his tripod. Bring a flashlight if you are hanging around for the night shoot.
