Hi Elizabeth, I know how you are feeling. I had someone come to me with something vaguely similar and it was a 5K contract to write and I turned it down. I was scared I would blow it. It's been about five years since that happened and I would grab it in a second now.

I think it's important to take things to basics. this may help you. What is the purpose of the book? Is it telling some portion of a life or is it a life arc? Define that and then break it down. I like to do a basic outline. 20 points which turn into 20 chapters. write a paragraph for each giving a 20,000 foot view of what you want to cover in the chapter. develop that with the person who is commissioning you. Then jump off and write the book.
