LA-AI Meetup - Mobile

Details

The last Friday of July is almost here, and that means it's time for the LA-AI Meetup in Mobile at Innovation Portal!

We are very excited about our special virtual guest, Matthew Daniels, physicist with NIST (the National Institute of Standards and Technology) who's going to share some fascinating insights with his talk: "Computing is physical: Mapping intelligence to hardware and vice versa."

You know how we always talk about AI like it's this magical thing floating in the cloud? Matthew's going to ground us in reality. Matthew is exploring the frontier of non-traditional computing. We're talking quantum systems, neuromorphic chips that actually mimic how our brains work, and other physics-based computing that sounds like science fiction but is happening right now.

Why should you care?
The future of AI isn't just about better algorithms. It's about completely reimagining the hardware that makes intelligence possible. Matthew bridges physics, applied math, and electrical engineering to figure out what computing could look like when we stop thinking inside the silicon box.

What to expect:
‣ Insights into how physical laws shape artificial intelligence
‣ A peek behind the curtain at cutting-edge research from one of America's premier science institutions
‣ Practical implications for how we think about AI's future in our region
‣Plenty of time for Q&A (bring your curiosity!)

💻 Matthew joins us virtually from NIST

This isn't your typical tech talk. Matthew operates at the intersection where theoretical physics meets real-world computing challenges. Whether you're a seasoned developer, a curious entrepreneur, or someone who just wants to understand where AI is really headed, this session will give you a completely new perspective.

As always, our meetings are free and open to everyone. We're building an inclusive AI community here in Lower Alabama, and conversations like this one are exactly how we connect global research to local innovation.

See you Friday! And if you know someone who'd be fascinated by the physics of computing, bring them along. These discussions spark the next breakthrough.
