Shortridge Park Tree Planting with Ardmore Tree Tenders

Details

This Saturday! Join us in Shortridge Park at 10 am to plant over two dozen trees in Shortridge with Ardmore Tree Stewards.

Good morning, Friends of Trees! 🌳

What are you doing this Saturday, November 16, 10 am - 2 pm? Consider spending a few hours helping to plant over two dozen trees in neighborhood locations across Ardmore and Wynnewood! While helpful, no previous planting experience is necessary. Additionally, there are ways to volunteer that don't involve planting at all.

👉Saturday, Nov. 18, 10 am starting location: Shortridge Park (We'll meet at the grassy, vehicular bridge near Remington Road)

✅Steps to sign-up to volunteer 👇:

>>>> Complete the PHS Tree Tenders volunteer registration & waiver online. Completing the PHS waiver online allows you to skip that step when you arrive next Saturday.

https://phs.volunteerhub.com/vv2/lp/ardmore/ ✔️

>>>> Complete a short Ardmore Tree Stewards volunteer sign-up form (e.g., where you can tell us about your experience, interests, or restrictions).

Since fall 2021, Ardmore Tree Stewards -- an officially-recognized Lower Merion Township-based PHS Tree Tenders group covering Ardmore and Wynnewood -- has planted ~150 trees in Lower Merion, with an emphasis on planting native canopy trees in residential areas with low-or-declining tree canopy. Ardmore Tree Stewards is volunteer-driven, with valued support from Lower Merion Township.

🌱We hope you will join us next Saturday and/or spread the word about this volunteer opportunity!

Sincerely,

Jane Murray, volunteer coordinator (cell: 215-740-0076)

P.S. Did you know most Ardmore blocks have canopy coverage far below the recommended minimum? For example, the Census Block Group surrounding Vernon Young Park has tree canopy coverage of only 20%, 20 percentage points away from a recommended canopy cover goal, 40%. Tree Equity Score. Help grow our tree canopy by planting with us!
