Sun, Mar 15, 9:30 AM
From Descubridores de Barcelona y Catalunya

Bajamos a pie hacia Les Roquetes\.

This is the second of a series of meetups dedicated to exploring the exciting world of **[OpenTelemetry](https://opentelemetry.io/)** within the cloud-native ecosystem. Whether you're just curious about observability or already a seasoned OpenTelemetry user, this series will offer valuable insights, practical knowledge, and opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts in the Barcelona cloud-native community. 📍**Location** 🆕 [Glovo](https://about.glovoapp.com/): c/Llull 108\, Barcelona \| [https://maps.app.goo.gl/371qvgfN5jj7atpcA](https://maps.app.goo.gl/371qvgfN5jj7atpcA) **👉 Here's a sneak peek of the agenda:** **18:30:** Check-in and welcome 👋 **18:45:** 🎙️ "**The 44% Price I Paid for Observability**" by **[Adrián Pastén](https://www.linkedin.com/in/adrian-pasten/)**, Software Engineer at [ApiumHub](https://www.linkedin.com/company/apium_hub/)**.** I added OpenTelemetry to find performance bottlenecks in my Kubernetes PHP application. Instead, OTEL became the bottleneck - consuming 44% of my system capacity and dropping throughput from 2,519 to 1,400 requests per second. Through live metrics and real production scenarios, I'll share what auto-instrumentation actually costs, when observability tools become performance killers, and practical strategies for getting the insights you need without destroying the speed you fought for. **19:15:** 🎙️ **"Efficient Tail Sampling at Glovo"** by **[Dani Medina](https://www.linkedin.com/in/dani-medina-3084b878/)**, Principal Software Engineer at [Glovo](https://about.glovoapp.com/) In this insightful talk, Dani delves into how Glovo has implemented a tailored tail sampling strategy to achieve two critical objectives: keeping operational costs under control and empowering developers to identify error traces effectively. **19:45 - 20:30:** Networking, Snacks, and Drinks 🍻🍕 We appreciate **[Glovo](https://about.glovoapp.com/)**'s generosity in hosting us at their Barcelona office and providing snacks & refreshments. Thank you so much 🙌 See you there! 👋
