Monday Mafia Game & Social – Beginner – The Hydrant (Monument)

**Welcome to UK Mafia!**📍We meet at **The Hydrant** @ Monument on the Second Floor (see photo above). **Do I need to know anything beforehand?** This is a **beginner** event, and many will be playing with us for the first time. If you are a beginner, **please arrive early if you can** to hear explanations of the rules, and so you get to play many games. We will also explain strategies. Most importantly, this is a social activity, so feel free to talk to anyone between the games and have fun! \* *If you are an intermediate player, there is also a separate intermediate table on the other side of the floor \** **🕵️‍♂️ What is Mafia?** Have you seen 'The Traitors'? Play the game that 'Traitors' is based upon! Mafia is a 10-player social game; it can get competitive, but it's easy to learn. We play at multiple tables. You get a secret role and work with your team to win. A game lasts about 45 minutes, so we play many during the day. The **Mafia team** tries to hide and eliminate the **Citizens**, while the **Citizens** try to find the Mafia through deduction and logic. While this is a beginner-friendly event, we also host tournaments and online events with players from around the world. You will quickly see that the game has two phases: 🌙 **Night:** * The Mafia secretly targets a Citizen * The *Don* (Mafia) learns if a player is the *Sheriff* * The *Sheriff* (Citizen) learns if someone is Mafia ☀️ **Day:** * Each player says in their turn who they think the Mafia are * Then, everyone votes publicly to eliminate one player The game continues until the Mafia are eliminated or they outnumber (or equal) the Citizens. Draughts is a super-fun concept bar located in the iconic Leake Street Graffiti tunnel just steps away from Waterloo Station. This unique games-themed event is hosted in a private area of the venue – The Loft, with a contemporary vibe, beautifully exposed brickwork, and our own private bar. This is a doubles speed dating event, so be prepared to get to know other single people in an entertaining and interactive way as you move between tables playing new and nostalgic games in groups of four. Designed for social singles booking individually or with friends, you will be welcomed by our host at 19:15 and have the chance to grab a drink from the bar before we begin. Ladies will be paired and seated comfortably on tables with various board games. These are selected to be short in duration (approximately 12-minutes) and great for helping you break the ice as you get to know your fellow players. Gents will be invited to rotate around the tables in pairs, playing a variety of entertaining games, having no shortage of laughs along the way. Sunday Gaming at The Bedford

This event will take place in the Ballroom, so more space for everyone. Looking to play some longer games, or just fill a lazy Sunday? Well why not join us at The Bedford for an extended gaming session. You are of course welcome to stay as long you like, you can leave when you've scratched your gaming itch at any time. As these sessions are normally for longer games, a lot of people arrange games before hand in the chat, if you see one you would like to play, just reply and ask if there is space, easy. You'll welcome to bring your own games (it would be great if you could teach as well), or just join in with one of the others someone brings. There will be plenty of choice no doubt. Good fun, great company and delightful location are (almost) guaranteed, with excellent food and drink on hand. If it's your first time just ask for Rocky, or someone in the hi-vis jacket. Some of our old hands will be wearing badges, so you could ask them. We'll endeavour to get you into a game that suits you and your gaming level. Please remember to read the club description for our rules (there aren't many), and remember, please don't bring in food or drink from outside, we are getting the room for free and we don't want to jeopardise this. Also please be aware that being a Sunday our members will be playing longer games, so if you do turn up late or without organising a game, there maybe quite a wait. Hope to see you there.

Come have a drink, meet like minded friendly people and let the battles commence. If you have a game you would like to play, please mention it in the comments and see if others would like to join you. You can join one of the other games mentioned there already or even request that someone brings a game that you would really like to play. If you do bring a game, it would be great if you could teach it, but someone else might know it.
