**ATTENTION:** **I might not be able to make it to this meetup, I am creating it for you so that those that wish to play chess over the board can have a location & time to do so.** **(that being said, bring a set or you might have to wait for next on a board someone else brought)** **Also, there will be NO meetup on Saturday October 31st** **(I might do a meetup on Saturday November 7th)** **Side note:** **Any questions or comments please post it to the group so that other members may be able to give you an answer (like one of my regulars might be able to answer a question especially the day of the meetup if I am not there)** This is a social chess meetup. Even if you don’t know how to play or are an absolute beginner you are welcome to come socialize and maybe even get a lesson. I will be teaching free lessons, just ask me when you are there and if there is time I will give you a lesson.. I will provide 3 chess sets & clocks enough for 6 players. But I do ask that if you can please bring a set (& clock if you have it). Thank you.

Social Chess over Coffee/Tea

Really looking forward for a game of chess over coffee, tea with interesting people. The event is designed to be co-ed, so equal ratio of men and women. All are welcome ... This is a really nice cafe in Queens, accessible by bus and near LIRR. Come in, grab a cup of coffee or tea, relax: we will make intro's and then begin rounds of Chess.

Manhattan Smutty Book Club - Dearly Departed by Chip Pons

The book for each month will be chosen at the book club before. So come with your suggestions! Please join us at Cornerstone Tavern, 961 2nd Ave, New York, NY (51st and 2nd) for great conversation, laughs, and friendship. Look for our signs, and listen for the laughter. We are often in the back of Cornerstone behind the curtain, which is actually a different restaurant called the Stags Head. We start at 7pm, but feel free to come early before happy hour ends at 7. People usually start to drift in by 6:30pm.

Gotham Go Group - Tuesdays at the Hungarian

Every Tuesday evening from 5 - closing. All are welcome, from beginners to pros. We usually have 8-15 players show up. This is a casual coffee house environment so don't expect a Go tournament kind of silence, but rather a din of conversation that is probably the vanguard of intellectual New York. Absolutely free, it costs nothing to play, and there is nothing to join. But PLEASE do get a drink, dessert or both to support the good folks at the Hungarian Pastry Shop who so graciously allow us to use their storied and humble space. We have some boards and stones, but it never hurts to bring your own.
