Event Agenda and Speaker info
10:45 - Registration
11:00 - Tea
11:15 - Opening and keynote by Nitin Kaulavkar, Director, Walmart Labs
11:30 - Consul – Manage services and configurations in a dynamic cloud environment - Laks S and Nisheed Meethal, Intuit
This is a story about how a cloud application that serves 2.5M customers online manages its auto-scaled server fleet where propagation of dynamic configurations across the environment is a challenge. The session touches upon how Consul can be leveraged for service discovery, configuration management and even in BCP operations.
Lake S is Principal Engineer and Nisheed is Staff Engineer with Intuit. Both are part of production reliability engineering team supporting one of the signature products of Intuit. The team is excited about their recent journey of migrating a massive monolith to AWS and willing to share how Consul as a service discovery mechanism helped in controlling the fleet by catering to various automation systems ensuring site-up.
12:15 - Ansible is our Wishbone - Manosh Malai, Consultant Mydbops
Managing different DB environments state at scale is not easy. In this talk Manosh is going to share how they made the transition from big hand-crafted environments to inventory driven automation that manages over 10+ AWS accounts, alongside hardware datacenter environments. He will share what they did right, what they did wrong, and how they made it less scary when their client’s ask "So, how long will it take to build new DB Infra?”. Manosh thinks it will be fun to share the journey.
1:00 - Lunch
2:00 - Data Science Applications & Usecases - Sreenatha Reddy, Founder, Sweeyam Software Services
In this talk Sreenatha is going to run us through the big data challenges, where the data scientist's exactly help, how the discipline is contrasted with other disciplines and finally he would run us through few case studies and use cases.
3:00 - Scaling a distributed stateful system: A LinkedIn case study - Sai Kiran Kanuri, LinkedIn
Scaling a stateless system like web servers & application servers are pretty well understood, but scaling a stateful system has its own set of challenges. In this presentation, we hope to present our learnings & challenges faced while scaling a NoSQL database used within LinkedIn. Scaling a data system involves significant movement & replication of data within in a cluster. This can put considerable load on a system that is already running hot, affecting the service experience. In the talk Sai plans to cover Replication, Data distribution, Load Balancing, Cluster management, Client data and capacity management. 3:45 - Open forum
4:00 onwards - Tea, snacks and networking.
