Marja Annecke: CX & Branding: The Elasticity of Brands

“Your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.” (Jeff Bezos)

Today’s markets and products are changing more rapidly than ever before. As complexity and digitization advance, traditional brand and marketing models can’t keep pace. Increasing complexity leads to the atomization of brands. With the fragmentation of touch points, brands now compete everywhere – and increasingly in close interaction with their fans.

In the Experience Economy customers have shifted from being passive consumers to active participators. Experiences must be as finely crafted and precision-engineered as any other product. The new paradigm for designing those experiences is customer-centricity which is in the focus of a new experience management approach (XD) that brings user, customer and brand experience in a holistic correlation.

How do we develop something new? It means exploring unchartered territory and reaching beyond existing patterns, reaching beyond traditional brand style guides. This challenge requires an “elastic brand” - that can react and deliver tailored promises.

About Marja Annecke: Marja is Head of Experience Design & Strategy at SinnerSchrader Swipe, a studio for mobile-centric product design and engineering. She leads a team of product designers and strategists focusing on services and innovation. Previously, Marja spent six years in the automotive and banking industry as a consultant for digital strategy and customer experience. She left the path of UX design to study service design and business strategy at the University of Arts Berlin and HSG St. Gallen. Curiosity and a radical focus on customer needs are at the heart of everything she does.

Agencies fast paced and ever changing work environment inspired Marja to become a coach for organizational design, consulting teams on managing collaboration and creative leadership.

Sabrina Mach: Using acting techniques to understand & predict human behavior

We often talk about stepping into our user’s shoes. We learn about them and watch them do things. But we still do this from the outside, and therefore still have a limited understanding of why users do things, and we still have a limited ability to predict their behavior.

This talk shares acting techniques that help us step into your user’s shoes. We will hear stories about situations that were acted out by people applying those techniques, and hear how this helped to better understand and predict human behavior. This is small data in action, with a powerful outcome.

You will take with you a simple framework that can be used to prototype service and product situations.

About Sabrina Mach: Sabrina has 10 years experience in leading projects and teams that help companies create outstanding products and services. After founding her own startup Webnographer, she lead the UX effort at OptioPay: defining the UX strategy, executing it, and evangelizing UX throughout the Organisation. Sabrina recently joined ThoughtWorks as Lead Experience Designer.
