Hi everyone! 👋 My name is Emad. Now that the weather is getting cooler, I’d like to spend more time outdoors and do more hiking, mountain biking, via ferrata, and other outdoor activities. So I created this Meetup group to find people who are interested in doing these kinds of activities together.

For our first event, I thought we could kick things off with the Via Ferrata dei Tre Signori above Bellinzona.

We can move the event to Sunday, September 20, depending on the weather or if Sunday is preferred by the majority of participants.

🧗 Route & Difficulty
We will take the medium route (Via Media, K3).
The route includes exposed sections, metal rungs, ladders, and a variety of climbing terrain. Although this is the easier variant of the ferrata, it is still a proper via ferrata, so participants should be comfortable with heights and exposed terrain.

📍 Location: Mornera / Sasso Torrasco (Bellinzona)
We’ll take the Monte Carasso–Mornera cable car and hike from the Mornera station towards the via ferrata.

⏱️ Expected Duration
Plan for approximately 4–5 hours for the whole activity, including:

• 🚡 Cable car to Mornera (reservation: +41582031450)
• 🥾 Approach hike
• 🧗 Via ferrata: 390m elevation gain (~2.5 h)
• 🥾 Return hike

The exact duration will depend on the group’s pace and conditions.

• 🪖 Climbing helmet (can be rented — see below)
• 🧗 Harness + via ferrata set with energy absorber (can be rented — see below)
• 🥾 Hiking/climbing shoes with good grip
• 🧤 Gloves (recommended)

• 🧥 Weather-appropriate clothing
• 🧴 Sun protection
• 🎒 Small backpack

⚠️ Who Is This For?
No previous via ferrata experience is required! This event is suitable for beginners as well as people with previous experience.
You should:

• 🧗 Be comfortable with heights and exposed terrain
• 💪 Have a good level of fitness and be able to hike for several hours
• 🥾 Be comfortable walking on uneven and mountainous terrain
• 🪜 Be willing to climb ladders, metal rungs, and exposed sections

We will go at a comfortable group pace and help each other along the way.
This is a social group outing, not a guided climbing course.

⚠️ Participants are responsible for their own safety and must follow the safety instructions and use the required equipment correctly. This is not a professional or guided activity.

🌦️ Weather
The event is weather-dependent. Rain, thunderstorms, wet rock, or poor visibility can make the via ferrata unsafe. In particular, we will not enter the via ferrata if there is a risk of thunderstorms. We may therefore cancel or modify the event if conditions are unsuitable.
