Let's get lunch. Eat, chat, meet interesting people, network, make friends. Open to anyone.
Background: I telecommute out of Burlington where I run e-commerce companies. Recently, I found myself eating lunch alone at a restaurant... with the 4 nearest tables also occupied by solo diners. Seems silly, yet happens all too often since I moved to the Burlington area last year.
Many fond memories and close connections from my big company days invariably surround lunch. Plus, as a married parent of three, what better time to network? And all this great local food, too. Without many local colleagues of my own, I figured, "Why not make a group for this?"
I'll schedule lunches every few weeks in or near Burlington. Our first event had 9 great people. More are welcome too. But, even if only one or two people attend, that's still a 100-200% improvement in my book :-).
It's been far too long since I hosted one of these... We'll return to our first spot, the always accommodating of big groups Ri Ra on Church St in Burlington. Hope you can join! For new people, read on:
This a meet up for a casual lunch, chit chat, introductions, networking, whatever you want to call it. All are welcome.
No sales pitches, no networking group to pay dues to, nothing like that. Just a bunch of people... largely working professionals from small offices or WFH, but also people new to town or a million other reasons... who get together for lunch to meet new people.
It's a pay your way, split checks setup. So no big deal if you are a little early or late, if you have to skip before it ends, etc.
That's it: Lunch. At a table with a bunch of nice people.
If you've never been, Ri Ra's is decent burgers, good salads, fries with yummy 'HP sauce', that kind of thing. Very casual and affordable.
I'll make a reservation the day before based on RSVPs, so there's enough seating.
