Lund AI Safety, pre(lolđź‘€)-kick-off
Details
Hello guys, I'm quite interested in AI Safety and happy to meet with other such people. Whether you think we are doomed, we'll be okay or just curious to learn and discuss the topic - I'll be glad to
see you🙂. This meetup also serves as practice for me, since I’ll be doing something similar for EA Lund in a week.
The agenda we'll try:
00-15 meet & greet
15-45 I'll present recent news in AI Safety
45-100 we'll see where the discussion will go!
100-120 what next meetups would you like to have? & wrap up
(A little disclaimer 🫢 - it's my first event in Lund and I do it a bit hasty/casually - I'll do something more prepared later, when I have time - should still be nice though 🙂‍↕️)
A fancy description if you don't know what AI Safety is:
We’re living through something comparable to the Industrial Revolution — except this time, the machines don’t just replace muscle, they try to replicate cognition.
This meetup is for people in Lund who want to calmly and seriously discuss AI safety: how advanced AI systems might impact society, work, power, and long-term human wellbeing — and what can be done to steer development in a beneficial direction.
The meetup is informal and discussion-based. We’ll talk about current AI systems, near-future risks, ethical questions, governance, and technical safety ideas — always with an emphasis on critical thinking rather than hype or fear.
You don’t need to be an AI expert. Students, researchers, professionals, and curious non-technical people are all welcome. If you’re interested in understanding AI beyond headlines — and want to think together with others — this meetup is for you. Fun and nice atmosphere included.
