August event: Book-themed picnic
Details
It's the dog days of summer, inertia is high, the weather is warm (to put it mildly), the beaches and mountains beckon, and the burden of trying to finish a book for the next book club seems too much to bear.
So in August, no formal discussion - instead, it's a book-themed picnic. Go crazy with the theme - one person has already promised to dress like a worm 📖🐛. Also planned are
- Book-themed board and party games
- A book exchange (bring any books you'd like to give away)
- Basic picnic accoutrements: blankets, snacks, drinks, sunscreen, cushions, chairs, etc
The location will be Kinnekswiss Park, as indicated in the pin on the map (towards the Theater tram stop). If it rains, we'll move indoors to a location tbd.
Last note: Join at 13h if you'd like to do some outdoor reading before the picnic!
Extra credit: A classic picnic book is "Picnic at Hanging Rock" (1967) by Australian author Joan Lindsay, which was released as a film in 1975 (and it's considered the best Australian movie of all time). Come prepared to discuss the film and/or movie if you have the time!
