Magical stream valleys, spectacular rocky landscapes and romantic castles characterize Route 3 of the Mullerthal Trail.

We have arrived to the final chapter in our Mullerthal trails. 😉

Mullerthal aka Petit Suisse is the most famous and popular hiking area of Luxembourg 🇱🇺. The approximately 112 km long Mullerthal Trail consists of three loops (Route 1, Route 2 and Route 3).

There are two castles on the route, both of which have their own character: the castle ruins in Larochette and the Beaufort castle ruins and the Renaissance castle. In addition to the castles, the route leads along protected stream valleys, through forests, along rocks and to spectacular views. A 700m long wooden footbridge leads to the Kallektuffquell on this route, a mossy rock emerges from the water and gathers in a basin - here you can experience a colorful spectacle of colors in every season.
Route 3 also leads past the landmark of Luxembourg tourism: the Schéissendëmpel - a waterfall with a small, romantic bridge.

Seeing Mullerthal is a must for newcomers, the reason why I don't usually organize hikes there is because it's too touristy. Anyway every year we gonna hike it and hike it all we will. Both the 3 mega loops (route 1/2/3) and all the extra tours A/B/C/D one by one. We will continue this series with the third longest path :

The good news 😃:

You have suffered enough on the last 2 loops so I try to make this easy as possible. The topography of this loop is unique, there is a 211m either climb or descend, we will use the latter 📉 to make the hike easier. We will not have to climb back to the same elevation again, there will be 3 smaller climbs after
Weather report looks perfect 20C and 🌞🌞🌞
We will NOT rush this hike, with an avg 4km/h and 30 mins lunch and multiple water and snack breaks we expected to complete it in 10 hours
We will start and end the hike at the Larochette (there are 3 restaurants in town to have a dinner after)
Nature have already waken up 🌱🍃 🌷🌻 so you will be able to see a lot of beautiful flowers along the trail

The bad news ☹️:

We must start this super early, 09:45 latest to be able to finish it in daylight, the last light is at 21:36 so even if we are slacking, we should be able to finish the hike
We will do the whole ~ 37km as advertised, maybe a bit more if we encounter blocked trails
Part of this trail intersects with the previous Mullerthal loop 2 (might be boring for those who are already participated)
This hike will NOT be repeated again this year if you miss out see you next year
No direct connection, we will have to switch at Mersch so drivers are welcome
This is the last hike for May, the Mullerthal extra trails we will sandwich between other hikes on the summer (eg: when there is a problem with the train line to go to the north)
Only 3 shoutrcut possibilities, we going off the hook on this one

Start time: 09:45 Larochette Spuerkeess, take train RB3608 from Gare Centrale (08:53->09:16) then we switch in Mersch to bus 233 towards Stegen this will get to Larochette by 09:39, we will wait couple of minutes for those who would like to drive. Drivers are welcome, we will reuse the same carpoolgroup for this:

End time: 19:45 Larochette, there are 2 buses (about 1 per hour), line 233 to Mersch or 250 to Ettelbruck, if we decide to stay for dinner the absolute last bus we should take is at 23:05.
