馃崄馃崅 Echternach Cross-Border Walk (15km) 馃崅馃崄
Details
Hello Friends!
Sunday it's gonna rain again!
But only after 21:00, so we don't even have to bother!
I recently found the location of a place that I've seen in multiple photos over the years, but never found out where it was. Until now!
It's in Germany, not far from Echternach, and following the loop that I have in mind for this hike, we will reach that place for our lunch break.
We're going to start the hike on a part of the famous "M眉llerthal Trail", walking through the stunning scenery of the "Gorges du Loup".
After about 5km, we're going to cross a bridge over the S没re river, to Germany; get your passports ready!
A steep and long incline will make you question your life choices, but once we reach the top, we will take a break as long as needed to get everyone back on their feet.
From there on, it will be rather flat until this photogenic spot, where we will do our lunch break (at approx. 9.5km).
Meeting Point:
We will meet at the public parking "Echternach Central Station", which is still 800m away from the bus stop "Echternach Gare Centrale", and neither of them is near a train station, because Echternach has none :)

If you come by car, this is a paid parking, but I was told it's not very expensive. You may of course look out for free parking around, but make sure that you don't miss the hike ;)
Public Transport:
I suggest that you plan on taking bus 212, leaving "Kirchberg, Gare Routiere Luxexpo" at 9:31.
You can get there by tram or other buses, but make sure that you don't miss it.
In case you miss that bus by a minute or two, there is a plan B:
Bus 211 from Luxexpo, leaving at 9:34, which is NOT an option I suggest planning for. Plus, it will be arriving only at 10:28 in Echternach, and you would need to do the 800m to the starting point in 2 minutes to be on time! :))
Carpool:
Carpooling may be the best option this time.
Here you can register your car or grab a seat:

If there is no seat available, you should join the wait list. Last-minute drivers should consider bringing their car to the carpool, even on Saturday night, to help someone out.
Glacis is usually a convenient starting point, which everyone can easily get to. Unless you come from a different town, please clearly state where you're going to start and where you might be able to pick someone up.
I will start from Dommeldange, we meet at the parking of the train station, several buses can get you there (bus stop "Eich, Klinik"), or train RE 3609.
Wherever you start from, please state it precisely on the carpool app to avoid delays from your passengers not finding you.
Disclaimer:
The hike is at your own risk, and please make sure to wear proper shoes and bring some water for yourself!
Looking forward to hiking with you!
Jens.
