Hello Friends!

Which town in Luxembourg has the most train stations?

Well, of course, Luxembourg!

  • Gare Centrale
  • Dommeldange
  • Pfaffenthal/Kirchberg,
  • Cents
  • Hollerich
  • Howald

Which of you knew all of these?

And what's your next guess?

Esch?

Meh... just one...

Belval?

  • Université
  • Lyceé
  • Belval-Redange (Really? Ok, let it count!)

Surprise: It's Dudelange!

  • Gare-Burange (yes, it counts, if Redange does!)
  • Ville
  • Centre
  • Usines

There is not only an amazing hiking and mountain biking area here, the "Red Rock Region", but there is also another fantastic Christmas market in Dudelange!
It consists of a "traditional" Christmas market and the "Marché de Noël médiéval", which are almost next to each other.
Musicians, merchants, various food, Glühwein, and mead.
And of course, (vegetarians stop reading here) a lot of meat!

We will start in Dudelange at the train station "Usines" (the 4th and final stop after leaving Bettembourg).

We will take a few short breaks to have a sip of water, but not too long and not too many, because there will be no picnic like in summer, we need to continue heading towards the final Bratwurst destination!

Meeting Point:
We will meet at the Dudelange train station "Usines" and start the hike shortly after the train arrives.

You will find some parking there if you come by car, and it's just a 10-minute walk back from the city center.

Public Transport:
Surprisingly, there are trains between Luxembourg and Dudelange this weekend!

  • Train RB 6711 from Luxembourg to Bettembourg, departing at 11:00
  • Train RB 6011 from Bettembourg to Dudelange, departing 4 minutes after the other train arrived

Please note: 4 minutes to change the train and platform sounds a lot, but if the train from Luxembourg is just a little bit late, the poor bastard that needs to circle back and forth between Bettembourg to Dudelange the whole day is so frustrated, he will just depart on time even if he sees you running towards his train on the platform already, so maybe even it looks like we have some time: JUST RUN!
(Plan B: We need a female to faint at the doorstep, to prevent the train from leaving!)

Note:
This is not a complete loop; if you come by car, you will have to walk back 10 minutes to "Usines".
But if you come by public transport, you can catch the train back home from Dudelange "Centre".

For those who come from anywhere else but the city, maybe you can offer or need a seat in a car, please use the carpool:

Looking forward to hiking with you!

Jens.
