Details

The exhibition ‘All down the Line – Drawing Now’ highlights current drawing practices from Central Switzerland. It is part of the joint project ‘Dessin – Central Swiss Drawing’, which brings together 13 art institutions. From October 2025 to March 2026, each institution will present its own exhibition focused on drawing.

In response to the public call for submissions, 126 dossiers were submitted by artists with close ties to Central Switzerland. The curators of the Dessin institutions were responsible for judging the submissions and distributing the positions among the participating institutions. Seventeen of these positions are on display in the exhibition at the Kunsthalle Luzern.

The exhibition shows the variety found in contemporary drawing, from detailed pencil and colored pencil pieces to experimental monotypes and installations that bring lines into three dimensions. The themes include digital culture, science, politics, as well as poetic, personal, and conceptual ideas.

Where does the line go, and how far can it reach today?
