Mixed Terrain Ride
Details
This will be a weekly ride to go along with Salsa's Adventure By Bike concept. We believe a sense of adventure makes life better. The bicycle can be so much more than just a bike; it's a path to new places, new people, and amazing experiences.
Mixed terrain bicycle riding combines bicycle travel with a mountaineering flair. Dirt trails, gravel and paved roads are combined as needed for an efficient route through sometimes difficult terrain. Natural obstacles are often not avoided, instead they are incorporated into the ride which may require some hike a bike sections. For mixed terrain riding the goal is finding efficient travel over every surface traveled. Sometimes this means combining hiking or climbing with biking.
Mixed terrain riding is best done on an off-road adventure bike like Salsa's Fargo. Although any mountain bike (preferably with 29 inch tires due to some long stretches of pavement) or cyclocross bicycle will work fine.
Due to time constraints, we ask that you be able to ride at a 12-14 mph pace on the road before taking on this type of ride.
As a reminder: You must wear a helmet. You are responsible for you and your safety on this ride. Bring plenty to drink, some snacks, tools and supplies to at least repair a flat and a cell phone would be advisable. No one gets dropped.
Headlights and steady red tail lights are required.
