About us
Welcome to French Movie Nights at the Lycée, a Meetup group dedicated to exploring the rich tapestry of French and Francophone cinema in our beautiful auditorium at the Lycée Français de New York on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. We show movies in French with English subtitles once a month. It is free and open to all upon registration on our site culturalcenter.lfny.org.
Films are shown in their original language with subtitles.
Whether you're a seasoned cinephile or just looking to broaden your cinematic horizons, you'll find a welcoming community of fellow film enthusiasts who love French culture. We tend to show contemporary films with limited distribution in the US. Come and immerse yourself in the beauty and complexity of international cinema with us at Lycée Movie Nights!

Visionary artist and skilled self-promoter, Bartholdi pioneered inventive fundraising campaigns in France and the United States, an early form of crowdfunding, to finance the Statue of Liberty. The film traces his transatlantic journeys, the statue’s gradual creation, and the powerful symbolism it carried at its inauguration in October 1886. Alongside Bartholdi, it highlights key figures such as Édouard de Laboulaye, who conceived the idea of the gift, and Joseph Pulitzer, whose press campaign mobilized public support to complete the funding.
