What we’re about

Welcome to Lyme Alive! Lyme Disease Information & Support Group! This group provides a safe space for anyone who has battled the perils of Lyme Disease and its many manifestations. Lyme patients are also diagnosed with Autoimmune Disorders, Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. We all have one thing in common and that's a daily life that has been flipped upside down by chronic symptoms. We are stronger, together and taking the time for yourself to practice self-care can go a long way. Lyme Alive meetings will be held via Zoom on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 7:30-8:30pm ET.

Anyone suffering from the long-term effects of Lyme Disease, no matter how that looks, is welcome to join and we are here for your support. Hope to see you there :)

~*To receive the Zoom log in info for the meet up you must click attending on the event and I will post the meeting info the day of in the chat. Also, to ensure privacy everyone must have their video on to start the group in order to verify that you are in the zoom room for the right reason*~

Bio:
My name is Jake Broughton and after already battling the perils of Late-Stage Lyme Disease for 8 years, I contracted Covid in early March 2020. There is a huge overlap in symptoms of Long Covid and Lyme & other co-infections. The parallels from symptoms, loss of livelihood, the strained relationships, the cost of treatment are all uncanny. Both communities face doctors within our mainstream medical system that are still in the dark on how to treat these types of chronic illnesses. I was misdiagnosed with Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia and saw 28 specialists in 5 years before I was properly diagnosed.

It was my own heavy research and the last doctor I found in 2017 that helped me gain my life back. We were also capable of treating Covid as well. Covid shines a huge spotlight on the fact that infection can drive autoimmunity. So I welcome those who’ve received autoimmune diagnosis as well. It wasn’t until 9 months later where I developed a pulmonary embolism and then some of the neurological aspects of Covid came back on me. BUT, I am here to offer hope. I regained my health once from the same type of chronic immune dysfunction with Lyme and I will use similar methods to get there again. I wish the same for all of you and hope to serve as a support network while working to regain our health.

I have had experience in serious medical situations and for the last 5 years I have turned my pain into positivity and began working with a non-profit organization that raises awareness and teaches Lyme prevention to children/adolescents.

In 2023-24 I became a Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach and Certified Nutrition Coach. I am also a multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer and have begun to pursue mind-body healing techniques such as reiki, tapping, sound meditations and tonal vibrations using Quartz chakra and Himalayan singing bowls, Koshi chimes and tuning forks.
