Join us for an intimate and immersive tea tasting experience that celebrates the depth, heritage, and ritual of Japanese tea. LVLUP Games proudly welcomes Tetsuaki, founder of Kawagiri Tea, for a refined exploration into the world of premium mountain-grown teas from Shizuoka, Japan.
Guided by Tetsuaki’s deep knowledge and personal journey, participants will be introduced to the complete lifecycle of Japanese tea—from the highland fields where it is cultivated, to the nuanced methods of brewing and appreciating its layered flavors.
Over the course of this two-hour session, you’ll sample a curated selection of five different teas, including sencha, black, and roasted hojicha. The experience will be accompanied by senbei and sweets, and by the end of your session you will be able to take home a sachet of your favourite Kawagiri tea included in your ticket cost. Additional teas may be offered depending on time and participant curiosity.
About Tetsuaki and Kawagiri Tea
The name Kawagiri, meaning “river mist,” reflects the ideal climate for premium green tea, where shifting mountain temperatures bring out its finest qualities. Shizuoka’s steep tea fields, including a hidden gem called Ikumi, are part of this rich heritage. It was here that I first encountered the unique charm of mountain-grown tea. However, the challenge of maintaining these fields, along with aging communities and a decline in domestic demand, has put this tradition at risk.
After moving to Canada, I rediscovered tea’s calming power. Even during challenging times of adapting to a new environment, each cup brought me peace and a sense of connection to Japan’s natural beauty.
Tea is a journey with no end, revealing countless aspects and joy in each sip. At Kawagiri, with our unique lineup centered on mountain teas, we’d be happy if we could accompany you on a part of your tea journey, offering moments of relaxation, positivity, and inspiration to further explore Japanese tea.

Due to the limited spaces available for this event, we will not be issuing refunds for this event less than 48 hours before the event. Be sure to purchase the ticket for the correct date. This event will run only if a minimum of 10 tickets have been purchased 48 hours before the event, if we do not meet this minimum threshold, we will notify and refund you for the cancellation of your ticket.
