Wow! Finally out of the city on an awesome road trip, winding along through the foothills toward those shimmering mountains, drinking in the brilliant blues and gorgeous greens and WHAM! your dream is interrupted - car trouble(and no cell signal!).

  • Dead battery - good thing you know how to check the water level and clean those corroded terminals!
  • Flat tire - thank goodness you learned how to use that jack and practiced putting on the spare!
  • Starter gone - you've got that lug wrench extension and use it to tap the starter - voile!

Now, you're not an auto mechanic, but in a pinch it sure helps to have some basic knowledge about your car, huh?

Try that again:

Wow! Finally outta the city on an awesome weekend climb, booking down the trail in the steely shadow of a heavenly peak and WHAM! your foot misses that rock and down you go, searing pain shooting through your ankle and foot(and no cell signal!).

Good thing you took that WFA class and know exactly how to tell if this is a sprain, fracture or strain, and what's the best thing you can do for each of those injuries!

The reality is, we never head out expecting an emergency, but when the unexpected happens, it sure helps to have some knowledge about first aid in a remote setting.

Do you? Maybe it's time....

Play Safe,

Terrie
