AI Lightning Talks 2

Details

A machine learning event that promises not to 'overfit' your schedule.

We've invited three machine learning experts to each give a 7 minute lightning talk about recent AI projects they took part in.

The event kicks off at 5:30 PM on the dot in Multipurpose Room 1. After, we'll migrate over to The Clyde Hotel for a round of beers and some high-brow networking/beers 🤖🍻

🔥 Featured Lightning Talks:

This time around we have three awesome speakers. They are:

Guang XV PhD, Technical Lead @ New AIM
Title: "LLMs in e-Commerce"
Guang is a distinguished entrepreneur and data scientist, with an impressive portfolio of over 30 published research papers. Holding the position of technical lead for the data platform/engineering team, he plays a pivotal role at New Aim, Australia's premier private e-commerce firm. In his capacity, Guang is poised to share his insights on how LLMs have been impacting the B2B e-commerce landscape, specifically focusing on both the places where they struggle and where their best use cases lie.

Vlada Rozova PhD, Postdoctoral Researcher @ University of Melbourne
Title: "AI For Patient Care"
Vlada is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Melbourne where she utilised natural language processing on clinical data for the detection of medical conditions and the facilitation of automated surveillance. In her talk, she’ll discuss the intricacies of incorporating AI into healthcare. Drawing from her experience in developing clinical decision-support tools for Melbourne's largest hospital precinct, she will discuss the technical bottlenecks, emphasising practical solutions to improve patient care through AI innovation.

Mostafa Rizk, PhD in Cooperative AI
Title: “Generative Dungeons and Dragons”
On top of being an active member of the Melbourne ML/AI community, Mostafa also holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence with a focus on Cooperative Multi-Agent Learning He has extensive experience implementing state-of-the-art algorithms fresh off the Arxiv papers and in this, he’s going to cover the popular "Generative Agents" paper released by Stanford last year, detailing how the authors created a gaming environment populated by LLM-driven NPCs. He'll outline some of their innovations in broad strokes and share his experiences in developing his own locally hosted version specifically for Dungeons and Dragons-style role-playing games.
