About Talk1: "Neue Wege im Politmonitoring: Generative KI im Einsatz mit offenen Parlamentsdaten" by Michael Bieri

Abstract
Die Komplexität politischer Prozesse auf Bundes- Kantons und Kommunalebene erschwert es, den Überblick über laufende Geschäfte, Themen und Aktivitäten zu behalten. Mit der kommerziellen Lösung Politmonitor und dem Projekt Open Parl Data haben wir langjährige Erfahrung in der Datenbeschaffung und Aufbereitung dieser Informationen aufgebaut und etabliert. Aufbauend auf diesem Fundament untersuchen wir nun das Potenzial von Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) zur intelligenten Informationsabfrage und -aufbereitung der politischen Geschäfte und Prozesse. RAG kombiniert die Sprachverarbeitungsfähigkeiten grosser Sprachmodelle (LLM) mit der umfangreichen Wissensbasis und ermöglicht dadurch präzise, kontextbezogene und aktuelle Antworten. Ziel ist es, datenbasierte Entscheidungsprozesse zu beschleunigen und zu vereinfachen – ohne dabei in Abhängigkeit von grossen Technologiekonzernen zu geraten.
Im Vortrag werden die Herausforderungen, der entwickelte Lösungsansatz, die gewählte Methodik sowie die bisher gewonnenen Erkenntnisse und Ergebnisse vorgestellt.

Michael Bieri ist Leiter Data Excellence bei der Glue AG und Experte für Datenanalyse, Business Intelligence und Data Science. Mit über 20 Jahren Erfahrung entwickelt er datengetriebene Lösungen, die komplexe Informationen in klare Entscheidungen verwandeln. Er kombiniert technisches Know-how mit einem pragmatischen Ansatz und einem Sinn für Qualität.

About Talk2: "Crafting Intelligent Applications with Quarkus/LangChain4j" by Dimitris Andreadis

Abstract
Quarkus was released on March 2019 in a galaxy not too far away (actually Neuchâtel, Switzerland) by a team of engineers that dreamed of supercharging Java for Cloud/Kubernetes native deployments, while bringing Joy back to Developers.

It builds on top of LangChain4j, offering seamless integration, build time optimizations, performance and production enhancements, effortless creation of native images using GraalVM and an unmatched developer experience (and Joy!). The Quarkus DevMode makes iterative development and prompt engineering a breeze, Quarkus DevServices can spin up containers for you behind the scenes, and the Quarkus DevUI offers insights into your intelligent applications.

Speaker
Dimitris has 25 years of experience in IT and he is currently Sr. Director of Engineering (Red Hat) at IBM in charge of the Cloud Native Runtimes group that includes the Quarkus, Vert.x, SpringBoot, and Node.js teams. He also served as the JBoss AS project lead and he has been a JBoss addict and contributor from the early start-up days. He worked previously at Intracom and Motorola in the areas of NMS/OSS, designing reusable frameworks and distributed systems. Dimitris studied computer science at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens and received an M.Sc. by research from University College Dublin, Ireland.

Dimitris is a passionate advocator of Opensource technologies and has presented on a variety of events and conferences around the world. He has been an invited speaker at various Java/Linux community events and user groups, and he has delivered inspirational talks on technology and Open Source in universities and educational institutes. In his spare time he has also helped with the organization of technology enablement events for children, like Scratch Days, Devoxx4Kids and JCrete4Kids.
