November Machine Learning Meet Up

Details
Machine Learning Meet Up
We have a real humdinger of a Machine Learning Meet up to finish off 2023. The Trinity Long Room Hub will host a series of speakers from Human+. This is an interdisciplinary fellowship programme connecting computer science researchers with researchers from the arts and humanities and enterprise to forge a human-centric approach to technology development. The event will be moderated by Prof Vincent Wade, Professorial Chair of Computer Science & AI and Former Director of ADAPT SFI Research Centre. The session will focus on considerations for identity in the metaverse and present the insights from a draft white paper by the Human+ fellows.
Speaking at the event will be Prof Gareth Young, an assistant professor in School of Computer Science, TCD and leads research at the intersection of extended reality (XR) technology, human-computer interaction HCI) and artistic practice. Then Dr Kata Szita, a cognitive science researcher specialising in extended reality technologies, will address how virtual multiuser environments like the metaverse define identity as well as exploring the dangers and prospects in terms of human behaviours and personal data.
Dr Nicola Palladino is a political scientist concerned with Internet governance and digital policies. He will discuss the political implications of the metaverse and to what extent the current regulatory landscape is suited to face the challenges posed by this new kind of platform.
We will also hear from the current Human+ Fellows contributing to the white paper: Dr Lauren Buck and Dr Dalila Burin.
The Machine Learning Meet up is a great chance to meet with like minded individuals while exploring new areas of interest.
