Lili Kotlerman:
Lili will present a project she led at Intuition Robotics, aimed at improving the conversational abilities of a companion robot for the elderly.
Open-domain conversational AI is known to be a difficult task. It becomes even more challenging when state-of-the-art conversational models are implemented in a social robot, due to additional issues such as speech-to-text errors and false wake-word detection. Lili will show how supporting a state-of-the-art model with several supplementary models and features improved the accuracy of classifying user intents, and suggest that leveraging the mixture of experts approach can be a (rather) quick win beneficial in multiple real-life settings

Yoav Ramon:
Yoav will talk about the problems of classical Entity Recognition inside an NLP pipeline, especially in the medical domain.
In classical usage of Entity recognition, we sometimes extract simple things like City names, but once we extract more complex things like medical problems, things get trickier. In those cases, using only Deep Learning makes the solutions less robust and requires a lot of training data. Still, with a few tricks, we can easily write a set of generic rules that will create a much better understanding of our Entity-Recognition results.
Yoav will talk about how Nym-Health is solving those problems with the combination of ontologies, Linguistic understanding and Semantic DL-based representations, and how those ideas can be transferred to almost any domain.​
