About us

Mad Dixit is a board game based on a variation of the popular board game Dixit. It has been modified to encompass a transpersonal theme and provides an easy and interesting way to explore beyond ordinary realms of consciousness.

Over time, playing Mad Dixit may help develop capacities that can have a positive and beneficial effect on our lives. This game challenges us to step into each other’s shoes and engage with other players using empathy, intuition, emotional intelligence and deep connection. It directly bypasses intellectual curiosity and takes participants gently and directly into non ordinary states by connecting with each other in metaphorical ways, using surreal artwork, visual interpretation and storytelling.

The Mad Dixit game is normally played with 3 – 8 people but we have created a two person set of rules where both players partner up and play against a “ghost” which is essentially a random entity. We have also created a single player “Solitaire” version which is more of a focused meditation.

No previous experience is necessary to play Mad Dixit but you really do have to play it to understand it.

And you don’t have to be mad to play Mad Dixit but a little probably helps.

We tried for a few weeks to run public Mad Dixit nights at the Nunawading Community Hub in Springvale Rd Nunawading. There was some interest but not enough to sustain these weekly meetings so we have closed that activity down.

If you live somewhere around the Whitehorse/Maroondah area of Melbourne and want to get some friends together for a game of Mad Dixit let us know and we will see what can be arranged.

If you want to form your own group or introduce Mad Dixit to your friends you will first need to purchase a standard Dixit board game. The modified rules together with the artwork and instructions to make your own 24 “Transpersonal” cards are freely available to anyone who is interested.
