Mobile Device Flow implementation for Apigee X/Hybrid
Details
- Meetup Event Description: How do you authorize a device that has no keyboard, a tiny screen, or no browser at all?
Devices like Smart TVs, IoT devices, and autonomous AI agents often need to authenticate securely without traditional login interfaces. This is where RFC 8628 – the Device Authorization Grant (Device Flow) becomes essential.
In this Community TechTalk, Joel Gauci will walk us through how to implement Mobile Device Flow with Apigee X/Hybrid, exploring how this authentication pattern works in real-world API environments.
We’ll go under the hood of Google Cloud Apigee to build a secure and scalable implementation of this ""headless"" authorization handshake, moving beyond the documentation to explore the practical mechanics of state management and polling.
We’ll also look at how this flow enables a powerful Human-in-the-Loop security pattern for autonomous AI agents that need to request elevated permissions or transaction approvals from a user without a shared session.
- Who should attend
This session is ideal for:
• API developers
• Platform engineers
• DevOps engineers
• Security engineers
• Anyone working with Apigee, API security, or device authentication
