THURSDAY Chop Squad, Baking, & Meal Prep!
This event is ideal for experienced cooks and volunteers familiar with the Made by Momma kitchen and our procedures. There will be no kitchen orientation, and minimal supervision.

Come and get creative with your cooking & baking skills and prepare nutritious and delicious meals and treats for the families we help through our Meals Program!
Our freezers are emptying as quickly as we fill them, and we need to restock them with healthy and delicious meals and treats. Our pantry, coolers and freezers have lots of great ingredients that can be turned into meals for the families we help.

About 90% of our cooking ingredients are donated so it is often a fun challenge to figure out what delicious creations you can make with what we have. Each healthy and delicious meal you help prepare will help feed a family facing situations of adversity or crisis.

Most Chop Squads also include the need for prepping of donated ingredients to be frozen or stored for use in future cooks. Some simple meal preparation like smoothies and baking may also be involved.

Participants:
-Shoes must be closed-toe
-Medium-Long hair must be tied back (if it fits in an elastic, it must be tied back)
-Do not attend if you are sick.
-Must be able to work / cook independently
-All participating volunteers are expected to help clean the kitchen after cooking (the kitchen cleaning checklist must be completed)
-One volunteer should stay with the team-lead until they are ready to leave (primarily for evening cooks)
-As the kitchen gets very busy we ask that children do not attend
-You must sign-in, read, agree and initial the Notice of Risk form at the kitchen prior to starting your volunteer shift AND sign-out at the end of your volunteer shift!
-Volunteers participating should be registered with a Volunteer ID #
-Guests of registered volunteers may attend ONE volunteer activity - then must register as a volunteer to attend further sessions

Do you like helping families in need? Do you LOVE organizing? This volunteer opportunity is perfect for you! We receive donations of new and gently used baby and children’s clothes, toys, books, diapers, formula, baby gear, small household goods, etc., and we need help to keep it all organized.

Help us to sort incoming donations, clean them, organize and store them so we know exactly what we have in our resource center when a family facing distress needs a delivery.

Skills Needed:

•Ability to work independently and take direction

•Dependable and committed to your scheduled shift

•Able to lift, carry and move boxes/bags of donations

Responsibilities:

•Liaise with team lead regarding what donations need to be sorted and where they should be placed

•Sort, fold, test, tag and put donations in appropriate bins

•Launder/Clean donations when necessary

•Repackage diapers

•Dust & Wipe donation shelves

•Keep track of donations we are low on and in need of

•Ensure donations are well organized and sorting area kept tidy

•Other related tasks as needed

***Please do not park in our loading zone!
