This volunteer activity is detail-oriented and fast-paced. We suggest you attend at least one "Sorting & Organizing Donations" volunteer shift prior to signing up for a "Packing Client Requests" volunteer shift.

We are busier than ever and we need help creating our baby & family essentials care packages for the families we help.
Each week we get over 100 requests from families needing items! Care packages are created for each individual family based on their specific needs. These might include diapers, baby food, kids clothing, personal hygiene, toys, books and other requested items for the families we help. It’s kind of like going on a shopping spree - but it won't cost you anything but your time! :)

Skills Needed:
•Ability to work independently but take direction
•Dependable and committed to your scheduled shift
•Able to lift, carry and move boxes/bags of donations, cribs, car seats etc. (up to 50 lbs)

Responsibilities:
•Liaise with and follow the direction of the team lead regarding which clients need care packages packed
•Follow our client packing standards
•Must be able to lift or move heavy bins/baby equipment
•Accurately record and label all items that are given to each family
•Keep track of donations we are low on and in need of
•Ensure donations are well organized and sorting area kept tidy
•After this volunteer shift, clean up includes wiping all counters, sweeping the floors, taking out the garbage and recycling etc.
•Other related tasks as needed

PLEASE NOTE:
* Please do not park in our loading zone!
* If you, or someone who shares your home, has been feeling sick, especially with a fever, had signs of lower respiratory illness, such as a cough, runny nose, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, please DO NOT volunteer with us.
* All volunteers must practice hand-washing hygiene & surface sanitizing throughout your shift.
* You must sign-in, read, agree and initial the Notice of Risk form at the Resource Centre prior to starting your volunteer shift AND sign-out at the end of your volunteer shift!

* Guests are not permitted for this particular volunteer activity. (for other volunteer activities: Guests of registered volunteers may attend ONE volunteer activity - then must register as a volunteer to attend further sessions

Come and get creative with your cooking while we prepare nutritious and delicious meals for the families we help through our Meals Program! About 95% of our cooking ingredients are donated so it is often a fun challenge to figure out what delicious creations we can make with what we have. You don't need to be a chef to help out, our amazing lead volunteers will lead the way! Each healthy and delicious meal you help prepare will help feed a family facing situations of adversity or crisis.

Participants:
-Shoes must be closed-toe
-Medium-Long hair must be tied back
-All participating volunteers are expected to help clean the kitchen after cooking (the kitchen cleaning checklist must be completed)
-One volunteer should stay with the team-lead until they are ready to leave

-As the kitchen gets very busy we ask that children do not attend
-Volunteers participating should be registered with a Volunteer ID #

Meal Packing!

We are busier than ever and we need help packing meals for the families we help. Come get social, meet fellow volunteers, and help us fill a huge need!

Each week we need volunteers to help with packing freezer meals for families who may be unable to cook for themselves due to crisis or adversity. Each meal package is created for each individual family based on their specific needs / allergies / food restrictions - so attention to detail is A MUST.

Come and play adult Tetris packing up our freezer meals into our special MBM meal bags for families in crisis and in need of healthy meals!

Skills Needed:
• Ability to take direction and follow very specific instructions
• VERY detail-oriented
• Organized
• Neat and Clear writing
• Able to lift, carry and move heavy bags of frozen meals safely
• Must be able to safely pull a small wagon and cross the street to the Resource Centre with the meals bags to be out away
• Dependable and committed to your chosen volunteer shift

Responsibilities:
•Liaise with and follow the direction of the team lead regarding which clients need meals
• Sanitize work area before and after shift
• Follow all food allergy guidelines
• Follow our client packing standards
• Accurately record and label all items that are given to each family
• Ensure hamper room is left well organized and tidy
• After this volunteer shift, clean up includes sanitizing all tables, counters, freezer door handles, sweeping the floors, taking out the garbage and recycling etc.
• Other related tasks as needed
• This volunteer opportunity is best suited for adults or older teens
• Please bring refillable water bottle, wear comfortable closed toe shoes and appropriate outerwear suitable for inclement weather

• Some weeks will also require us to pack Non - perishable hampers
