Thursday afternoon Meal Packing!

We are busier than ever and we need help packing meals for the families we help. Come get social, meet fellow volunteers, and help us fill a huge need!

Each week we need volunteers to help with packing freezer meals for families who may be unable to cook for themselves due to crisis or adversity. Each meal package is created for each individual family based on their specific needs / allergies / food restrictions - so attention to detail is A MUST.

Come and play adult Tetris packing up our freezer meals into our special MBM meal bags for families in crisis and in need of healthy meals!

Skills Needed:
• Ability to take direction and follow very specific instructions
• VERY detail-oriented
• Organized
• Neat and Clear writing
• Able to lift, carry and move heavy bags of frozen meals safely
• Must be able to safely pull a small wagon and cross the street to the Resource Centre with the meals bags to be out away
• Dependable and committed to your chosen volunteer shift

Responsibilities:
•Liaise with and follow the direction of the team lead regarding which clients need meals
• Sanitize work area before and after shift
• Follow all food allergy guidelines
• Follow our client packing standards
• Accurately record and label all items that are given to each family
• Ensure hamper room is left well organized and tidy
• After this volunteer shift, clean up includes sanitizing all tables, counters, freezer door handles, sweeping the floors, taking out the garbage and recycling etc.
• Other related tasks as needed
• This volunteer opportunity is best suited for adults or older teens
• Please bring refillable water bottle, wear comfortable closed toe shoes and appropriate outerwear suitable for inclement weather

• Some weeks will also require us to pack Non - perishable hampers aswell

* You must sign-in, read, agree and initial the Notice of Risk form at the Social + Good Charity | Kitchen prior to starting your volunteer shift AND sign-out at the end of your volunteer shift!

Do you like helping families in need? Do you LOVE organizing? This volunteer opportunity is perfect for you! We receive donations of new and gently used baby and children’s clothes, toys, books, diapers, formula, baby gear, small household goods, etc., and we need help to keep it all organized.

Help us to sort incoming donations, clean them, organize and store them so we know exactly what we have in our resource center when a family facing distress needs a delivery.

Skills Needed:

•Ability to work independently and take direction

•Dependable and committed to your scheduled shift

•Able to lift, carry and move boxes/bags of donations

Responsibilities:

•Liaise with team lead regarding what donations need to be sorted and where they should be placed

•Sort, fold, test, tag and put donations in appropriate bins

•Launder/Clean donations when necessary

•Repackage diapers

•Dust & Wipe donation shelves

•Keep track of donations we are low on and in need of

•Ensure donations are well organized and sorting area kept tidy

•Other related tasks as needed

***Please do not park in our loading zone!

• You must sign-in, read, agree and initial the Notice of Risk form at the Resource Centre prior to starting your volunteer shift AND sign-out at the end of your volunteer shift!
• After this volunteer shift, clean up includes wiping all counters, sweeping the floors, taking out the garbage and recycling etc.

-Guests of registered volunteers may attend ONE volunteer activity - then must register as a volunteer to attend further sessions
