NEWBIE (1.6) Pickleball at Taylor Park in Middleton

Details
ABOUT THIS NEWBIE (1.6) EVENT
This is a Newbie session, for people who’ve been thru the Intro (1.0) and Learner (1.3) courses and are ready to learn about how the game is played in real life.
• 20% info: grips, types of stroke, positioning, player communication, court rotations, variants
• 80% play: service target practice, several games, some nagging
We’ll remind you about positioning, communication, etc. while you’re playing games. You’ll also learn about all sorts of different ways to play the game depending on how many players you’ve got.
Don’t sign up for more than one Newbie session. After you’ve done one, you’d just be bored at another; move up to Beginner.
What to bring
Balls will be provided. The only equipment you’ll need are a paddle and your tennies!
You may want to bring a cap, a source of hydration, maybe dark glasses, and possibly your smartphone, since you’ll be meeting other comparable-level players with whom you can trade contact info to set up your own games. (And, of course, you can click on the “Members” link on this group’s home page to contact people you’ve met at one of our events to set up your own playdates.)
Cancellations
If the weather looks iffy, we’ll send a go/no-go message 3 hours before start time to everyone on the RSVP list (attenders as well as waitlisters). The Madison Pickleball home page describes our criteria for cancellation.
Location
Taylor Park is located half a block from the intersection of County Hwy. Q and Indigo Way, regardless of what your GPS might tell you.
