WT* does Data Mesh mean for us and for Microsoft Fabric - Tom Martens

For quite some time the conceptual approach of a Data Mesh is emerging. The Data Mesh will help us to tackle many challenges when it comes to harvesting insights from our data assets.

Here Tom will explain what Data Mesh means and how we can implement a Data Mesh using Microsoft Fabric.
But (of course there are some buts), it's important to understand that there are some challenges we will face when we are going to embark on the Data Mesh journey. For the sake of simplicity I will focus on the definition of the Data Mesh provided by Gartner: https://www.gartner.com/en/information-technology/glossary/data-mesh If you want to learn more about the concept of the Data Mesh I strongly recommendstarting by reading the book "Data Mesh" by Zhamak Dehghani.
If I have to use one sentence to explain the Data Mesh I would use this one:
"Data mesh is a cultural and organizational shift for data management focusing on federation technology that emphasizes the authority of localized data management." (by Gartner)
This talk is adressing challenges that come with creating a federated data organization but also how Microsoft Fabric capabilities like the lakehouse, shortcuts, and of course workspaces can help to overcome these challenges.
This talk is adressing architects and developers, who want to build secure data solutions.
