Let´s enjoy the great weather expected this Saturday (22-25ºC degrees) with a dip in the best beach near Madrid.

On Saturday we will explore the stunning San Juan Reservoir which is often considered as Madrid´s main beach. We will visit the most secluded area and its nearby coves. The hike is ranked as easy/moderate, no longer than 12km and will mainly go alongside the reservoir coast line. We will visit several coves followed by a swim in the reservoir and a picnic lunch.

In the beginning we will face the most challenging part of the hike with a short uphill of circa 1-1.5 kms. Then it will get much easier. The idea is to have fun discovering the coves and beaches of the reservoir, even taking a dip in the water as it will be hot enough.

Also, for those willing to go a little further we will reach the summit of the Yelmo de San Juan, adding another 2 extra kms to the total distance of the hike.

Once we have set the picnic area, we will stay there during 4/5 hours while sunbathing, swimming and relaxing.

Weather is going to be beautiful: between 22-25 Celsius and sunny.

On Saturday we will arrange free spots in the available cars. Please, send us your WhatsApp number when signing up so that we can coordinate it.

BY BUS Take the 551 bus from Principe Pío Intercambiador at 9:30 am. Nivel/Level -2, Dársena/Platform 22.

Please double check the platform when arriving at Principe Pio transport hub. Also the bus leaves at 10:30 sharp, so please plan to arrive a little earlier before the bus departure (10:15 would be fine) to secure a seat in the bus. Also allow yourself some extra time as metro and buses run less frequently on weekends than on weekdays.

The price of a one-way ticket is 5.10€, please bring change of 5 or 10€ for the driver. Also if you happen to have an Abono Joven, good news for you: the trip is included in it and therefore free for you showing your Abono! :)

Get off at Meson El Puerto bus stop. Let the bus driver know that you want to get off the bus there, at km.49,7 of Carretera (Road) M-501.

WHAT TO BRING:

• Hiking shoes or sneakers. Trainers/tennis shoes are ok for this hike.
• A small backpack for your stuff
• 1,5L of water or other soft drinks per person. PLEASE DON´T BRING LESS, as there are no fountains nor any water point in the whole route. Only at the end where the bus stop is can you buy water.
• Your lunch
• Sunscreen & sunglasses
• A hat or a cap.
• Swimsuit / bikinis and a small towel if you would like to swim.
• Flip flops are recommended for the beach.
• A fleece or warm sweatshirt as it may get chilly in the evening and you will likely enjoy the comfort of a fleece when we return to Madrid as temperatures drop below 22 celsius at sunset.
• And last but not least: bring yourself ready to have a great day with like-minded people! :)
