We are going to see Leica exhibition before Leo & Leo's concert at The Fernan Gomez Theatre!!

The iconic German camera brand Leica is celebrating its centenary with a photographic exhibition showcasing the milestones in photography over the last hundred years, from the birth of photojournalism to the democratisation of the image, thanks to the portability, reliability and precision of Leica cameras.

The Leica I, launched in 1925, ushered in a new era: photographers could work quickly, discreetly and right at the heart of events. The most iconic images of the 20th century would be unthinkable without it: war reports, street scenes, intimate portraits... 100 years of Leica means 100 years of history, art and emotion told through iconic photographs that move us and connect us, explains Karin Rehn-Kaufmann, Art Director of Leica Gallery International and curator of the exhibition.

The exhibition brings together more than 170 unforgettable photographs, as well as a selection of classic cameras and documents that illustrate the brand's profound impact on world photography. Leica offers a visual journey that addresses universal themes such as women, crisis, nature and people.

In the words of the curator, "We didn't just want to show the most famous and iconic photographs, but also personal, surprising and intimate moments. Our selection is not strictly chronological, but follows an emotional thread. We looked for images that tell a story, that make the magic of the Leica gaze tangible, across decades, genres and points of view. The Leica camera is a tool, yes, but it is the people behind it who shape the moment. That is why we focus on the unique visual voice of each photographer.

Names such as Steve McCurry, Oskar Barnack, Ernst Leitz, Elliott Erwitt, Ram贸n Masats, Andrea Hoyer, Jane Evelyn Atwood, Barbara Klemm, Bruce Davidson, Joel Meyerowitz, joined by a selection of twenty-eight Spanish photographers, including C茅sar Lucas, Manolo Laguillo, Crist贸bal Hara and Alberto Garc铆a-Alix, among others.

The exhibition also includes previously unseen material from the brand, showcasing a selection of classic cameras such as the Leica I (1925) and Leica II (1932), as well as historical material illustrating Leica's technological and aesthetic evolution over the course of this century.

An invitation to photographers, enthusiasts and the general public to immerse themselves in a journey through the history and future of a brand that has witnessed and narrated a century of images that form part of the collective imagination.

After the exhibition we will have a chat over a drink at Papua Bar, just outside the Cultural Centre, before some of us go into Leo&Leo's Concert at 20h.
