Hi there, fellow developers!
We've good news for all Functional Programming lovers: Brice Fernandes, cofounder of fsharp.tv and coauthor of the Complete Unity Developer course, will visit us from Cambridge and has agreed to share some of his knowledge with us! Brice will teach us how to filter spam using Machine Learning and F# in an opportunity not to miss. You'll find a more complete description of the talk below.
The talk will be hosted at Microsoft office in Madrid so please register in the following page to attend the event. Looking forward to meeting you!
Fighting Spam with math and F#
Spam sucks. A great way of dealing with spam is using Bayes' Theorem, a well known formula first derived in the 1700s. Armed with Bayes theorem and F#, we'll create a classifier that will automatically label messages as spam or ham. Using F#'s functional approach we'll start with a very simple solution that filters out most spam and then look at ways of improving our accuracy. Expect a mix of machine learning, functional programming and live coding as we build the spam filter live.
Brice is an experienced on-line teacher and tutor who co-created the epic Complete Unity Developer course, which quickly became Udemy's most successful game development course.Brice fell in love with programming while studying another subject at university and never really looked back. He now organises the Cambridge Programmer's Study Group meeting other developers twice a week to study computer science. When he's not programming, you can also find Brice helping start-up teams go further and faster at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School's own start-up accelerator Accelerate Cambridge, where he is a coach and mentor.
