## About us (for people who don’t know hashing)

If you’ve never heard of the Hash House Harriers, here’s the vibe:

### What is “hashing”?

Hashing is a worldwide tradition that’s part trail adventure, part social club. The route is marked on the ground, and you follow it like a real-life game of “follow the clues” or said another way, a cooperative scavenger hunt. There are occasional checks and playful twists, but the idea is to keep it fun and group-friendly, not fast and competitive.

### Who is it for?

  • People who want a fun Sunday plan that gets you out of the city and into the hills.
  • Anyone looking to meet new people in Madrid—locals and expats alike.
  • Runners, joggers, and walkers who prefer a social pace over a stopwatch.
  • Curious first-timers who like a bit of adventure, silly traditions, and an easy-going group vibe.
  • Regulars who love a weekly ritual: fresh air, laughs, and the on-on afterwards.

### What to expect on your first time

  • A mixed-pace pack: runners, joggers, and walkers together.
  • No one cares about your speed. If you can move forward and laugh occasionally, you’re good.
  • A route that’s usually around an hour-ish outside (give or take), then a social hang after.
  • First-timer friendly: tell us you’re new at the start and we’ll make sure you’re looked after.

### What to bring

Comfortable shoes, water (especially in warmer months), €5 cash and a bit of curiosity. Everything else you can learn as you go—hashing is one of those things that makes sense five minutes after you start.

### A small note for the seasoned hashers who read to the bottom

Yes, yes—proper marks, proper circle, proper nonsense. Tradition is alive, the mischief hasn’t been disinfected, and the only thing “wellness” about us is that we’re outside on a Sunday. On-on.
