What we’re about

Why is Magesongs School of Songwriting different?
“There is no school for songwriters except the school of hard knocks, and that school is filled with lies, myths, half-truths, and misinformation. Talented, you may well be. Educated about your chosen career—doubtful.”
— Dude McLean (Producer & Music Publisher — ABBA, Ray Charles, Barry Manilow, Whitney Houston, and many more)

Dude was right. Most songwriters learn through years of trial and error. Even when attending workshops led by successful songwriters, tips and inspiration alone rarely transform your writing — unless you’re mentored consistently and supported as you develop new habits and skills.

That is where Magesongs School of Songwriting (MSOS) comes in.

We believe that many talented songwriters never reach their potential simply because they do not yet understand how to create marketable songs and navigate the music business. We help you avoid years of frustration by teaching you the essential techniques, creative tools, and industry knowledge used by professional songwriters.

Our goal is simple:
We help you shorten your learning curve, improve your songwriting craft, and position you to create songs that can generate real income.

Who Is This Course For?
• Singers wanting to add songwriting to their career
• Singer-songwriters
• Lyricists
• Composers
• Musicians and producers
• Song programmers
• Anyone passionate about creating songs that connect with audiences and open doors in the industry

How It Works
This is not a “read it yourself” online course where you’re left alone to figure it out.
Our sessions are live via Zoom — highly interactive, collaborative, and practical.

You’ll work directly with Jacques M. Gentil (ASA/APRA Songwriter of the Year 2013) and connect with a community of fellow writers. We run a mix of:
• Core courses on professional songwriting techniques
• Workshops & masterclasses for song critique and development
• Industry-focused sessions covering marketing, publishing, royalties, demo submissions, and more.

Real Success Stories
Our students’ results speak for themselves:
Karen Guymer: Song held by Sony Nashville, Rudy Brandsma Award 2010, ASA/APRA Songwriter of the Year 2015

Anirban Banerjee: ASA/APRA Songwriter of the Year 2018, Songsalive Songwriter of the Year 2018, international releases

Rick Hart: ASA/APRA Songwriter of the Year 2014, publishing deal with Kobalt

Lloyd Clarke: Two times Tamworth awards winner., publishing deal with Kobalt

And many more — some students started out writing poems or struggling with dozens of unsuccessful songs. They now have professional credits, publishing deals, radio play, and awards.

Could you be next?
We work with you until you succeed — as long as you remain committed.
