"Doug Baulos & Friends" Gallery Walk & Dinner Social
Details
Hey everyone!
We are announcing this meetup plan extra early to make sure everyone has plenty of time to clear their calendars and join us for the incredible Doug Baulos & Friends exhibition! Mark your calendars for Thursday, January 21, 2027. This highly anticipated gallery walk is the perfect centerpiece for the next Magic City Queer Arts Social, giving us a fantastic space to gather, celebrate powerful local queer art, and connect over dinner and drinks afterward.
We'd love to expand our circle. So please feel free to bring a friend!
Weβll start our night at the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) before heading down the street for a sit-down dinner and late-night social.

π The Schedule β Thursday, January 21, 2027
- 5:00 PM β Art Gallery Walk
- Where: Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA) - Vulcan Materials Gallery (1800 Reverend Abraham Woods Jr Blvd)
The Exhibition's Queer Relevance π³οΈβπ: This specific showcase holds powerful meaning for our group. It directly explores themes of spirituality, love, death, vulnerability, and queer identity within the LGBTQI community. By interweaving visual art and poetry with organic Alabama dyes and hybrid materials, it provides a beautiful, dedicated space for queer narratives and communal reflection.
6:30 PM β Dinner Social
Where: Wooden City Birmingham (2335 Morris Ave)
Menu & Price Range: Wooden City delivers a swanky yet comfortable "casual fine dining" vibe inside a beautifully lit historic building. They are in the moderate to upscale ($$) price tier. Shared small plates run about $12 β $18+, burgers are around $19.50, and their signature wood-fired pizzas and entrees stretch from $18 into the mid-$30s. (Please note: There is a $20 corkage fee and a $15 outside dessert fee if you bring your own).
8:30 PM β After-Drinks & Wind Down
Where: The Margaret (2113 1st Ave N)
The Vibe: One of downtown's most welcoming, diverse, and transgender/LGBTQ+ safespaces. Itβs the perfect, relaxed environment to sit back on the patio, grab a craft cocktail, and talk about the art we just saw.
