Monthly Book Club - The Dark is Rising

We are having a break for December and meeting again in January. January’s book will be The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper.

We have chosen this specifically because we want to take part in the The Dark is Rising viral read along. This is an annual, unofficial, global tradition where fans of Susan Cooper's classic fantasy series reread the books in sync around the Winter Solstice, often starting December 20th, to experience the story's themes of light overcoming darkness as the days get shorter.

How it works:

We encourage you to begin reading on December 20th (Will Stanton’s birthday in the book) and continue chapter-by-chapter until Twelfth Night (January 6th).

You can also opt to tune into the BBC World Service’s audio version, available as a podcast on BBC Sounds. And if you are feeling particularly enthusiastic look for discussions on social media (#ReadTWiR) to connect with other readers.
