I'm excited to announce MLMAS's second in-person listening session. Once again, the historic Bryn Mawr Film Institute ("BMFI") graciously will host our members as we explore arguably the definitive soul jazz recording that bridged the jazz and blues genres. The album features a legendary guitarist (whom Duke Ellington called his favorite guitarist) and tenor saxophonist known for his thick tone and soulful, bluesy feel. It's an audiophile favorite that defines the "Blue Note sound" of the 1960s. I will provide a brief introduction of the album and musicians in addition to a listening guide to help facilitate discussion following our uninterrupted listening. If the mission of MLMAS seems appealing, I strongly encourage attending this event to experience a listening session in practice. This is a free event. No preparation required, only curiosity and a willingness to listen intently. Hope to see you there.
