For MLMAS's third in-person listening session, we will explore studio and live tracks from one of the greatest electric blues guitarists. He is often described as the "bridge" between the traditional acoustic blues of the South and the high-energy electric rock that followed. Eric Clapton famously called him "the best guitar player alive." Others who have cited him as a major influence include Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Billy Gibbons. The program will include a mix of mid to up-tempo tracks and several slow blues. I will provide a brief introduction of the artist in addition to a listening guide to help facilitate discussion following our uninterrupted listening. If the mission of MLMAS seems appealing, I strongly encourage attending this event to experience a listening session in practice. This is a free event. No preparation required, only curiosity and a willingness to listen intently. Hope to see you there.
